HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US AUGUST PEOPLE

Shae-Lynn is doing great in carrying on the rice krispy cake tradition.
 Another year has passed!  Wow - I am not getting younger.  However, I have the best husband and children who try to convince me that I really am not old. 

I love the drawings of everyone in our family.
Since we have three August birthdays, we decided to do one party for all three of us last Friday.  We were blessed to have 5 other missionary families join us for an evening meal and a time of fun and fellowship.  The Lord has given us such special friends.

Maybe if we had paintbrushes this big, we could have finished the painting much quicker!
Since we have spent so much time in house improvements this month, I thought it was fitting for Keith's cake to reflect our work.  We have now taken a break from the renovations and are enjoying the wonderful results.

 Skyler was having a very hard time deciding what he wanted for his cake.  He first asked for a whale...then a shark...then an eagle...then a fox...then a wolf.  Because I haven't been able to find marshmallows in the stores since our last birthdays, I had to make marshmallow cream for our cakes this time around.  I discovered that getting my creations to keep their shapes was much more difficult.  Marshmallow cream does not harden up like regular marshmallows.

One of the special gifts I received today was Baby Lucas being born to JJ & Harriet who pastor one of our village churches.  Please pray for Lucas as he has been put on oxygen due to a difficult birth.

Another special gift was being able to see four out of the five missionary families today that we had over for our party.  I had a very fun day, and I say a big thanks to our Heavenly Father for each year He has given me to live for Him.  I am SO blessed!

      You can find numerous recipes online. I just used one from my Wycliffe Cookbook.

LESSONS FROM CREATION (Pt. 2)

Remember when I mentioned our theme for my Ladies Sunday School class?  IT HAS BEEN SO MUCH FUN!  Not every week has been full of games and visuals.  After all, how do you visualize wind?  I thought we could run the fan on "hi" for the whole class, but we didn't even have electricity that day. However, let me share a couple of themes from the past month. Butterflies: Using my Cricut, we were able to cut out several butterflies to use for a review game.  I did learn an important lesson in doing this, though.  Construction paper on Cricut mats - a miserable mess to clean up!  Those small fibers love the stickiness.  While doing our shopping in the capitol a couple of months back, I spied these butterfly notebooks and grabbed up all they had.  On the day of class, I told the Lord, "You know I have just 14 notebooks.  You must control the size of my class."  That day, our attendance was low - 13 ladies. FALL or PRE-FURLOUGH CLEANING

Do you ever wonder what happens to a missionary's house while he is in the States?  Our previous furloughs we took things off of the walls, draped sheets over the furniture, and locked the doors.  Some missionaries move out of their houses, and others store everything in containers.  This time things will be different for us.  A fellow missionary will be returning from their furlough in January and will be staying in our house during our absence.  This will keep our house occupied, as well as give them time to find a house of their own.  So the cleaning, sorting and packing has begun. My book-loving kids are begging, "Please don't pack these books, yet.  What will we have to read?"  Washing the living room walls   For several weeks in a row, our ladies soulwinning team has seen someone saved each week.  Tonight my partner and I were making visits and were able to lead a Jaja (elderly lady) to the Lord.  Please pray for the me...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

Yellow because I'm Keith's Yellow Rose of Texas.  Red because he loves me so much. How special I feel.  This year my birthday celebration lasted for over a week.  Nearly every day, I was presented with a gift.  When Keith returned from Kampala on the 13th, he brought me two large bouquets of roses for my birthday.  (We can't get fresh flowers here in Masaka, so he was sure to plan ahead.)  On the 15th, Brother Ron Reece, who is visiting us on a survey trip, blessed our family with many gifts, including a birthday gift from him and his wife.  Shae-Lynn and Shane gave me their presents on Wednesday, the 18th.  Gathering at Mom & Dad's house in Mbarara. Keith's family always has prank gifts for him. Keith gave me one of his presents on the 19th, and then while we were in Mbarara, we celebrated all of the August birthdays on the 20th at Mom & Dad's.
